All my life I have been mentoring other women - nieces, great nieces, cousins, friends, friends of friends children of friends you name it I have done it- but it came at a high price... and that price is ignoring myself for far too long.
A couple of years ago I set out to find myself a mentor....still searching....
Perhaps I don't need a mentor after all,
perhaps I need a Fairy God Mother, and you know what Di??????
I got one in the form of a pint sized ball of energy.
A Fairy God Mother who is passionate about what she does and shares her
self and passion with others.
Recognize yourself? You should!
Your classes make me feel like being a
girl is an asset not a liability as some
women will tell you...damm them !!!!!!!
I bought into all that crap.
Not any more baby not any more

Burlesquercise Burned the Floor at the Salsa Congress

The Little Vegas Dance Company and Tease strutted their stuff on the Calgary International Salsa Congress stage and mesmerized the hundreds in the crowd!
For a three day weekend... of salsa dancing, workshops and evening shows, Burlesquercise had a few of the amazing performances to remember. All of the Burlesque babes on stage represented the world of sexy dancing alongside all the hot salsa dancers from around the world.
A big thanks to Miss Ginger, Miss Lacey, Miss Karen, Miss Teslin & Miss Leslie of The Little Vegas Dance Company for yet another fabulous show: "Show Me How You BURLESQUE"!
Lacey also performed her solo number: "Why Don't You Do Right?" Always a crowd favorite.
And a special thanks to Tease who performed "Take it All".
Tease lost a member, Miss Tanya, as she will pursue her dreams in the UK. We wish her all the best!
We also had some DancesportMD performances:
Vlad and Valeria did their cha cha cha...
Plus a special intense performance from our So You Think You Can Dance Canada finalists, Tony & Julia.
And a hot 'Chicago' inspired latin number by Mathew & Stefi.
And last but not least, the all famous Jean Marc Genereux was in the house, doing autographs & promoting Rocky Mountain DanceSport Grand Prix for which Burlesquercise is a proud sponsor.

Countdown to the Calgary International Salsa Congress

In less than two weeks, Calgary will host the classy Salsa Congress and Burlesquercise will be providing some of the hottest entertainment on stage! You do not want to miss this weekend full of sexy dancing...
On February 4 to 6, 2011 Calgary will welcome the Salsa world’s best International performers for a weekend of Workshops, Performances, Salsa Music, Dancing, and a qualifying competition for the World Salsa Championships.
Among the performers, a new couple to hit the Calgary stage this year is Tito & Tamara from Puerto Rico. This couple is recognized internationally and has danced in movies such as Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, El Cantante, and American Gangster.
There is a fabulous line up of instructors for the workshops, including a Lunchtime Lecture: Advice for Dancers - by So You Think You Can Dance Head Judge Jean-Marc Généreux!!
Come on out to the Calgary International Salsa Congress and you wont be disappointed!

Miss Annick places 3rd at the 2011 World Championships

Many of the burlesque ladies may recognize Miss Annick as being an instructor alongside Diana on the Burlesquercise Team, but many others know her at the spinning goddess of the country & western world.
Annick and her partner Mike Eads just recently came back from the UCWDC World Championships held in Nashville, Tennessee.
On January 8, 2011, they competed against 7 couples, in the highest level, the Masters division, and they placed 3rd!!! Way to go!

Sexify your Saturday was The Hottest day of Winter!

Miss Di and her team entertained over 100 ladies on one of the coldest days of winter yet! Read on...
From the afternoon to the wee hours of the night, the ladies had a hot hot hot experience!
What a better way than to kick off the Burlesquercise fever in 2011!! ~Sat, Jan 15 was a full day of burlesque tester workshop series: from boa basics, to teasing a chair, learning how to spin, floor play and the all enticing zoning..... Ooooh yes.
We did have a beauty break with some much needed drinks and snacks along with entertainment from The Little Vegas Dance Company: Teslin, Leslie and Lacey. Thanks ladies for the very inspiring shows!
Afterwards a group of us headed to Twisted Element for a drag queen show. Yowsers, can those 'girls' work it on stage! More drinking ensued, followed by dancing and more dancing.
A great time was had by all... Let us know what you thought! We'll tailor the next workshop series to your sexy needs!

Society teaches us that we should be ashamed of our bodies if they aren’t perfect; The amazing teachers at Burlesquercise teach that every woman’s body is perfect and special and that we must learn to appreciate our curves and jiggles!
When I first learned Zoning in class, I thought “You want me to touch what!” LOL, but that is just part of the process that helps you to appreciate your body and feel proud to be a woman instead of feeling embarrassed and ashamed! With Di’s classes, once you’ve broken down that barrier in your mind of what is deemed “socially acceptable”, you learn to embrace your new sense of confidence and sexiness with pride and dignity!
Di makes each class fun and entertaining, all the while providing us with a great workout, new sexy moves and the opportunity to explore ourselves as women. I love the dance routines that Di teaches in her classes; She is truly one of the best teachers (and women) I’ve ever known! She makes all women, even beginners, feel comfortable and sexy and you always leave class feeling refreshed and with a bit of a strut. Her classes provide a great way to get fit, toned and to learn to dance while having an absolute BLAST doing it! I must say that I am truly addicted to this new incredible phenomenon that she has created!
Di has taught me to embrace the sexy vixen inside me. Every women has one in them, you just have to learn to let it out!

The Foxy…Pat Frocklage

I absolutely LOVE Burlesquercise!
Its not about shakin' your tata's in someone's face and singing "I am woman here me roar" like some of my friends thought when I told them what kind of dance I do. Its CLASSY and SASSY... a great workout and fun! (2 words that don't go together in my vocabulary).
It is NOT jazzercise in fishnets either. Di balances the perfect mix of technique, encouragement and playful fun in every class and that equals EMPOWERMENT. You can walk in feeling like a miserable cow and come out feeling like a goddess again, not a diva, a sexy wonderful WOMAN.
Every woman should give herself this gift. There is not even one student that didnt come out of a class feeling yummier.

I just wanted to say thank you for hosting such a fabulous event, The 2010 Cabaret Christmas Gala!
I was in the beginner’s group and had the opportunity to be coached by Annick on Wednesday, and attended a couple of Saturday classes (taught by Kim and yourself) when I missed them on Wednesdays. I had fun in each one of my classes and have recommended them to all my friends. All you ladies are hilarious Thank you for giving me the opportunity to come out of my shell and learn to love me for me

Cabaret Christmas Gala a milestone for Donna!

Look how happy you and Steve made me!
I felt like a girl...finally!
I loved all of it, the dancing, my new friends, the night, the supportive crowd, the long stemmed rose, the martini, the surprise of the champagne but mostly I am grateful that I have met you and your wonderful staff so that I can be part of something I thought was unobtainable for me.
I thought this feeling of confidence and owning the moment only belonged to the beautiful woman of the world,the models, dancers, rich and famous, actresses, those with perfect bodies and teeth.
You have taught me to be the best that I can be, that attitude and confidence start from within and then and only then can it radiate outside of me...no matter what my age or size. And that the sexiest thing about a woman is her confidence!!!
I wish you and all those you hold in your heart, the Merriest Christmas, or holiday or what ever belief you hold dearest to your own heart.

I just wanted to say thank you… I really enjoyed the classes, had fun at the gala and the experience was so liberating. It made me feel hot and sexy, which is hard to do when someone has a 9 to 5 job and jobs now a days women have to think and act like a man to be taken seriously…. We end up forgetting our femininity.

Congratulations to all my gals in the Fall 2010 Intro class!
What a pleasure to be in the company of so many open minded ladies..it was so fun!
Like I always say, it's one thing to decide to feel better about yourself, it's another accomplishment to challenge yourself to take the course, but it's amazing that after 7 weeks of instruction, most of this class participated in the Cabaret Christmas Gala.

Chairtease celebrates by “Feeling Dirty”!

Many thanks go out to the hilarious and rowdy Chairtease class from Fall 2010!
Vixens of the class created a new relationship with their local chair..or any chair for that matter..with a wicked routine that we named, "Feeling Dirty"!
On a personal note, I was thrilled working with this group of gals..they always had me laughing. Thank you so much.
Most of the dancers participated in The Cabaret Christmas Gala on Decemeber 11th 2010. I am excited to see both the video and all the photos from Impressive Photography!
