Meet Foxy Amy

Miss Amy is celebrating her one year anniversary with Burlesquercise!

Taking on many life challenges, this one is a rewarding learning experience for this fox. Read her sexy experience...

This is Amy's witty write up:

30. Single. Somehow, in 2010 my life had boiled down to being identified by these two qualifiers. It didn’t matter that I had a successful teaching career or bought a house. The fact that friends, family and students relied on me was meaningless in comparison with “30. Single.” Somehow, with the end of my 20’s came the end of my self-perceived sex appeal and confidence. I spent weeks after my birthday living vicariously through Sex and the City. Then, whilst aimlessly wasting time on Google one day, I found it...the way to go from Miranda to Samantha...Burlesquercise!!! I signed up immediately; this was the way I was going overcome the “30 and single” blues.

Recently I celebrated my one year Burlesque anniversary. I’ve been a boa tossing temptress, a shirt throwing Bond Girl, a floor crawling sex kitten, a chair teasing vixen, a fan flaunting Jezebel and now a cabaret cane siren. I glamed up and sexily strutted my way through the Christmas Gala and did the mini-boudoir photo shoot. Burlesquercise has taught me an invaluable lesson in terms of age, confidence and relationship status. It doesn’t matter how old you are, it matters how you carry yourself. Confidence is worth a million bucks and who the hell needs a boyfriend when you can floss with a pink boa?

Thank you ladies for helping me regain my swagger!
Amy

LVDC at Tango Gala

The Little Vegas Dance Company does it again; heat up the floor with their encore performance of 'Show me how you Burlesque'...

Saturday May 7 was a steady rainy evening, but this didn't stop the girls from heating up the dance floor at the Polish Canadian Association Center. A sold out event was dedicated towards fundraising to aid the earthquake victims of Japan.

Burlesquercise was proud to be part of the professional show line up.

Miss Ginger was unable to perform and Miss Annick stepped in her place, since she's now an understudy of LVDC. Go Annick!
What a great show all the girls did, wooee, hotness.....

Frisky Floorplay Ladies

Continuing to challenge themselves, the ladies learned that the floor can be another fun prop in addition to a chair and a boa!

They were busy babes on Wednesdays...

What happens when you mix 'I am a Lady' by: Her Majesty's Sound, hot ladies, feather boas, chairs and floorplay?
A hot choreographed number with Miss Annick.
We had fun down there, on the floor.

And we treated ourselves with a glass of champagne and a sweetened orchid flower in our beverage. Mmm mmm good.

Nasty Intro Class Concludes

Once again an excellent group of ladies bonded and loved their Burlesquercise Wednesdays!

Here is the class photo to prove it.

Everyone agreed, that Wednesdays is a great mid point in the week to have a burlesque class.

We had some serious attitude with this group while learning Nasty Naughty Boy.

One of many foxes who worked that feather boa was Melody, pictured here with Miss Annick:

Thanks for a great class ladies. We will see you at the Disco Glam Gala on June 25!

Meet Amanda Plomp

A girl with determination, inner strength and is a true testament in achieving personal growth and health. This is her story:

When I joined Burlesquercise in September 2010, it was a desperate act to keep myself from losing my mind, I was suffering from depression.

I had graduated in May after six years of post-secondary education and I could not get a job! Companies were either requiring a Masters degree or they wouldn't hire me because I was 'over-qualified'. During that period of time, on top of everything else, my doctor informed me that the medication I was on, that had been controlling my medical condition, epilepsy, was possibly causing liver damage.

For 5 long months sitting around waiting waiting waiting for a break in my career and doing nothing with myself, with my health and career prospects floundering... I was getting to a point where I was beyond recollection of when I felt intelligent, strong and attractive.

I signed up for Burlesquercise on a whim, to try something new and different and to challenge myself. What I didn't know, and didn't realize even as it was happening... was that the classes weren't just teaching me to dance and strut and floss and pose. I got back into shape, losing 30lbs and never for a moment considering it a hard workout because all I noticed was how much fun I was having. I learned to walk with more confidence and engage more in conversations, and within a month of starting the classes, I landed a fantastic job both financially and in relation to my interests. I met some amazing girls, have built some really fantastic friendships and am always watching out for familiar faces in the +15 system downtown.

Since being involved in Burlesquercise, I have considered myself better equipped to deal with things that come along. When it turned out that my epilepsy medication was in fact causing liver damage and that I had to change prescriptions immediately, I focused on taking care of myself by staying healthy and active by practicing on the nights I didn't have class. I consider this to be a major reason why, unlike other times where I've had to switch medications, I've remained virtually seizure-free.

Burlesquercise hasn't overtly taught me how to deal with disasters (mini or major) that come up in my life. It has, however, shown me lessons that I can apply: "Walk with conviction"; "If you believe that what you're doing is sexy, your audience will as well, no matter how weird or crazy"; "Move like you're dancing for yourself, not for whoever is watching". These are the reasons why Burlesquercise has been an amazing experience for me. I've lost weight without feeling like I'm in a bootcamp, I've gained confidence without having to 'self-actualize' or even think about it, I've improved my work ethic ("If I believe it, my bosses will believe it") and I've made friends who have the same interests: feeling sexy and confident and showing that off.
