Julia Harnett’s journey ends too soon on SYTYCD…

The judges said it wasn’t unanimous, nor was it an easy decision, but the Top 18 became 16 as our beautiful dancer Julia Harnett was eliminated from the competition.

THANK YOU JULIA for allowing Canada, and everyone at home in Calgary, to participate and share in your journey on So You Think You Can Dance Canada. We know you can dance. You are truly an inspiration. We welcome you home with open arms and hugs all round!!!!

On week 3, Julia & her partner draw contemporary out of the hat and Jesse could hardly handle his excitement by jumping up and down and squealing in excitement. They hit rehearsal with Miss Stacey Tookey and begin their story of forbidden love. The piece starts and Julia is up on the back stair showing that she hasn’t forgotten that ballet technique of hers before she became a mama. (Did you see her baby in the opening clip? So adorable.) With a full moon lit behind them, they performed this emotional routine circling a bench. “Julia, your elegance is so, so beautiful,” Tré said, appreciating her musicality. “Jesse, I wanted to see you showcase yourself more,” she added.

The verdict: After the judges deliberated, the girls who were at risk of elimination stepped back onto the stage. Jean Marc revealed that Julia would be leaving SYTYCDC.

“I feel really good. I feel so grateful,” an emotional Julia said, hugging Leah.

“This was a dream come true for me,” she added, with tears streaming down her cheeks, thanking the judges for their feedback.

Solos, the bottom 3 girls....Julia was the last girl up and she performed a spicy Latin solo costumed in a loose silver tunic over a sparkly black bikini. “That was gorgeous,” Leah said after she danced.

Way to go Julia - Top 18 SYTYCD

Thank you Calgary for your votes and support to keep Julia in the running as she battles next week in the top 18!!!!!

This week Julia and her partner Jesse pull SAMBA out of the hat.

Julia says that samba is her favourite and although she was in her genre, contemporary dancer Jesse was out of his element working on this samba routine. Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin’s movement was fiery and spicy and halfway through the dance, Jesse tore Julia’s white dress off to reveal a tiny fringed dress.

Stay tuned for more awesome dancing Monday September 6 on CTV.

Remember, let's all vote for our local babe and keep her out of the bottom 3!

Cheer for JULIA on SYTYCD Week 2!!

Calgary coaches Diana & Martin are proud of their lovely Julia making it to the top 20 and on for a second week of dancing on SYTYCD Canada!!

Julia was paired up with her partner Jesse. Week 1 they performed a 'new disco' number.

Complete with huge lifts and a sparkly disco ball, Latin ballroom dancer Julia and contemporary dancer Jesse tore up the stage.

“I thought you guys did an excellent job,” Blake agreed with the rest of the judges, loving Jesse’s presence and power. “You command the stage,” he said to Julia, wanting her to make sure she extends the lines of her legs.

Finding herself in the bottom 3, Julia took to the stage with a fast flying jive in a fringed top. Her footwork was quick and she got the crowd cheering.

Calgary, let's pick up the phone and VOTE VOTE VOTE for Julia and keep her in the contest!!
Next Show: Monday August 30 on CTV
