Or is it Ballroom ladies who do burlesque? That's like the chicken or the egg!
We have 6 incredible women who do both and we are featuring them for that very reason.
Calgary has a rich dance background and selection of talented dancers; this city is known to produce some of the top artists in their fields. We are lucky to reside in such an amazing city, and Burlesquercise is none the more proud to have some of these dancers step through their doors.
Having witnessed these ladies most recently at the Rocky Mountain Dancesport Grand Prix, we are even more amazed at their spins and dance frame on the ballroom dance floor.
Whether you have coached them, cheered them on, or danced with them in a burlesque class, we would like you to meet our 6 ladies who dance both burlesque and ballroom, in no particular order:

Vienna Masquerade Underway

There's some magic happening on Sunday mornings...all in preparation for the Rocky Mountain Vienna Masquerade performance.
And Jean Marc Genereux is all part of it!
Here's a backstage sneak peak on how it all gets pieced together!
First you get the ladies, then the music, then the concept and costumes. Next you invite Jean Marc Genereux to team up with Burlesquercise's directress Diva Di to choreograph a hot hot hot number. And what do you get?

2013 Pink Ribbon Pin Ups Calendar

Calling all ladies! The official calendar launch will take place this Tuesday September 18 at Bankers Hall, home to the 180 foot giant 'Pink Ribbon' at 12 noon sharp at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation 9th Annual Survivors Parade. Join us!
Everyone is welcome to come to the Parade to watch and our main sponsor, Canada Safeway will be unveiling the calendar at that time. The Survivors Parade is a beautiful, energetic, positive event--over 200 breast cancer survivors coming together in strength and unity in a sea of pink, walking as one; living proof that there can be a future without breast cancer. Please feel free to bring friends and family, others who worked with us on the project or anyone you know who supports the cause.

Every year, Expo Latino adds more and more dancing to their schedule. And we're proud to produce some of the best talent and feathers there are to be on stage!

Lilac Festival 2012

Yippee our first outdoor festival marking that summer is finally here.
Let's make it even hotter with all the burlesque babes there to heat up the stage!!
The Lilac Festival is on 4th Street and is a one day event that is FREE. Bring all your friends and come support all the dancers on stage and visit our booth.
Time: 10AM to 6PM (PERFORMANCES: Burlesquercise on stage at NOON and DancesportMD competitive kids at 1:50PM)
Date: Sunday, May 27th 2012, marks the date of the 23rd annual 4th Street Lilac Festival, and the streets have never been hotter!

In 2011 an estimated 125,000 Calgarians participated in this fabulous one-day festival. They enjoyed the wide array of entertainers that were featured on stages and entertainment zones along 4th Street in the heart of the Mission district.
In addition, they had an opportunity to shop at over 500 craft, food and entertainment vendors along the 13 blocks of the festival. With something for almost everyone to see and do we had participants dancing in the streets to the smooth sounds and scrumptious tastes. Fourth Street is known for it's diverse cultural restaurants - "you can eat around the world on 4 th " - and those restaurants took to the streets that day selling samples of their fabulous menus.

On June 2, 2012, run the competitive 10K or walk the fun 5K and show Calgary that there’s absolutely no shame in bringing a little awareness to down there-ness.
The fun continues even after you cross the Finish Line with the EXPOsed After Party! Grab a well deserved drink and dance the night away with your fellow participants!

Feathers at Women’s Show

In the quest to spread the word, Burlesquercise set up a booth at the Women's Show April 14 & 15.

Lead up by Miss Leslie, it was a successful weekend of promoting our sexy company. The two day blitz included handing out brochures, laughing and giggling at the booth and enjoying The Little Vegas Dance Company perform on stage. Performances included Miss Ginger's solo, Miss Leslie's solo, Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy Trio along with Miss Annick and also Nasty Naughty Boy Trio number.
Thanks to all the great ladies who helped make that weekend a sexy success!

This is HOT stuff and you can be sure Burlesquercise is keeping things smokin' with a bit of salsa...
Delighted to have our very own energetic Miss Kim leading this class, Salsa-i-licious includes choreography geared towards performing.
The class is a couple weeks in the making. Girls are moving their hips. And they look forward to sizzling the dance floor at the Calgary International Salsa Congress the weekend of April 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency.

Saturday Sexifcation Success

T'was another feather shed, on a lovely Saturday afternoon, where all the girls zoned about and giggled to and fro...
Maybe something was in the air, or perhaps it was 'Sexify your Saturday' workshops...
Thanks to foundress and instructress Diva Di and her sexy team: Miss Kim, Miss Annick and Miss Leslie and featured guest instructor Rufino for a fabulous selection of sexification workshops Saturday March 10, 2012.
Workshops such as The B**tch Factor and The Diva Discovery with Diva Di, provided some essential tools for burlesque show business!
Popular guest artist Rufino proved to have some very popular dance classes with thrilling hip hop and contemporary concepts, pushing all the gals to new foxy levels!
There were Boa Basics with Miss Annick, Introduction to Cheeky Chairtease with our entertaining Miss Leslie and finally the Burlesque Basics with our very own energetic Miss Kim!!
The day wouldn't be complete without chocolate, strawberries and quenching champagne!!

That continues to be debated across Calgary, but the good news is... you will get the fever this spring at the Calgary International Salsa Congress on April 20 & 21st! Workshops, shows and international talent all weekend long! Be mesmerized by a theatre-style production featuring some of the best salsa dancers in the world, local professionals, and troupes from all over North America, flown in for one weekend only. Spectacular international salsa showcases will take place 2 nights only Friday April 20, and Saturday April 21 at the elegant Hyatt Regency Imperial Ballroom.
